Another Rec Me Friday, another good comedy stuck with a misleading title.
REC ME FRIDAY: 2014’S BEST FAMILY COMEDY
TROPHY WIFE | Season 1
Network: ABC, Now canceled because ABC is the worst
Starring: Malin Akerman, Bradley Whitford, Marcia Gay Harden, Michaela Watkins, Natalie Morales, Ryan Lee, Albert Tsai, Bailee Madison
Written by: Emily Halpern, Sarah Haskins
Premise: They say the third time’s the charm, and reformed party girl Kate is hoping that’s true when she becomes Pete’s third wife. She fell into his arms (literally) at a karaoke bar, and a year later Kate’s got an insta-family, complete with three stepchildren and two ex-wives.
Diane is ex-wife number one, an intense, over-achieving doctor and the mother of twin teenagers Hillary and Warren. Diane is quick to convey her withering disapproval of Kate’s barely tapped maternal instinct. Ex-wife number two, Jackie, is mother to adopted son Bert, and can pull Pete’s strings with her special blend of neurotic, new-ageyness. Juggling all this baggage is uncharted territory for Kate, who finds support with her best friend Meg, a party-hearty singleton and the only woman Kate knows who has less experience with kids than she has.
In anticipation for tonight’s new episode of Faking It, I compiled an outfit and some songs for Karma and Amy’s adorable relationship.
FASHION AND TUNES WITH KARMA & AMY
For many of us, it’s summer. It’s humid, hot, and bright. The sun’s longer hours make the days seem endless but at the same time, time goes by so fast. So what better way to spend the time away than with a fun distraction like a summer fling?
Normally, the term is used when talking about short term relationships but I’ve always said television is my boyfriend anyway so for this summer, I’ve chosen Faking It as my summer fling! Or one of them at least. ;)
REC ME FRIDAY: THE SUMMER FLING
FAKING IT | Season 1
Network: MTV, Tuesdays 10:30PM EST
Starring: Rita Volk, Katie Stevens, Gregg Sulkin, Michael J. Willett
Written by: Carter Covington (hey, that’s an actual character on Hart of Dixie!)
Premise: Most of the official summaries for the show don’t do it any favors because the idea of faking homosexuality as a way to climb the social ladder? Yeah, that sounds terrible on paper. The show starts off on that awful idea but by the end of the pilot, the show moves toward something much more interesting.
Faking It is about two best friends, Amy and Karma. At their supposedly extremely liberal school at Austin, Kara realizes that being a lesbian will increased her popularity level as well as her chance to hook up with the school’s hottest boy, Liam. Amy is much less concerned about her social status but loves her best friend and goes along with it. After a kiss to ‘prove’ their homosexuality, Amy realizes she may be genuinely attracted to her best friend.
